Vows under glass at the Kibble Palace.
The Botanic Gardens are my local park — I stay in Kelvinbridge, a few minutes along Great Western Road — and I still catch my breath walking into the Kibble Palace. A Victorian glasshouse dome full of tree ferns, marble statues and extraordinary light: there may be no more magical ceremony room in Glasgow, and it never once depends on the weather.
A rainforest in the West End
Ceremonies at the Kibble happen among the ferns, under that great dome of Victorian glass and iron — soft green light, a canopy overhead, and an atmosphere that makes guests instinctively lower their voices until I invite them to laugh. It photographs like nowhere else: the dome, the fronds, the statues catching the light. And because it's a glasshouse, Scotland's favourite trick — rain — simply becomes percussion on the roof.

The gardens do the rest
Outside the glass you have the whole Botanic Gardens: lawns, the rose garden, the Kelvin walkway, autumn colour or spring blossom depending on your date. Your photographs get a dozen backdrops within five minutes' stroll, and your guests get the West End — Byres Road and Ashton Lane are at the gate. As your very local celebrant I'll happily walk the gardens with you beforehand to pick the exact spot where everything happens.
