Citation spent its first life as Glasgow's Sheriff Court — an 1844 B-listed beauty of sandstone columns in the heart of the Merchant City. You cannot write a better setting for a ceremony with wit in it. I lean into the building's story — the solemn columns outside, the gorgeous irony of making your biggest promises in a former courtroom, the closing line about a life sentence with no appeal that gets the whole Merchant Suite laughing before the vows bring the hush back. Blonde sandstone and wooden floors mean the room needs almost no dressing; your words do the decorating.
The Merchant City on your doorstep
Ceremonies typically fill the Merchant Suite, with its own bar and that heated private balcony over the Merchant City — a brilliant spot for a post-ceremony breather while your guests settle in. Confetti on the steps under the columns, photographs in the lanes, and the Taverne Bar with its grand piano waiting for the evening.
