On top of the world, on Skye.
Some couples want a ballroom. Some want a clifftop on the Trotternish ridge with half of Skye rolled out beneath them. I've stood on the Quiraing with a couple in their wedding best — wind in the grass, lochans glinting away below, not a wall in sight — and it's about as close to the top of the world as a ceremony gets. In Scotland a humanist celebrant can marry you legally anywhere you can stand, and on Skye, "anywhere you can stand" is quite the offer.
Skye, your way
The Quiraing, the Fairy Glen, a beach at Staffin, a hotel in Portree with the harbour lights coming on — Skye gives you a dozen ceremonies to choose from, and I'll help you pick the right one for your date, your guests and your knees (some of those paths earn the view). Weather is part of the adventure: we build the day so the ceremony can shine in sun, mist or a bit of both, which on Skye usually means all of it before lunch.
Eloping to the island
Skye is Scotland's great elopement destination for good reason — dramatic enough for two, welcoming enough for a full wedding party. The paperwork is the same as anywhere in Scotland, a handfasting feels right at home up here, and if you're coming from England, the island makes the journey worth it twice over.
